Local Art Must be Respected: Putting a STOP to the Destruction.
Dallas, TX – Dallas is thriving with local artists. They provide the community with their extraordinary talent, and through their hard work, they express their creativity, their ideas, and their beliefs. This diversity of thought represents us all.
Some of these artists did a great job in producing custom signs to assist us in our campaign. It was brought to our attention recently that all three 8×4 foot campaign signs have been illegally and irresponsibly destroyed. Per an employee at the business, this was done under the direction of management of the establishment leasing the building where our signs were displayed, on Lemmon and Wycliff road, despite the campaign having explicit permission from the property owners to display these signs.
We believe the business acted under malice intent due to our campaigns’ pro-law enforcement messaging. An employee of the business stated “F**K PD,” and referred to the art as “ugly,” stating they would “continue to remove and destroy” our signage if replaced.
These actions are blatantly disrespectful to our campaign, the police department, and our vital art community. Dallas’ artists should never have to worry about creating with a bias of destruction on creative concepts, and we must defend their integrity.
We have made the DPD aware and are pursuing further action. We have also reached out to the business for comment, but to no avail.
We support the city of Dallas, our Artists, and our DPD officers; these actions will not be tolerated.
As an engaged member of the community, leader, and candidate for Dallas City Council, Michael Fetzer will relentlessly defend our city, artists, police, and every single member of the community. See Attachments on following page.
WE WILL NOT be silenced.
